Thermal Imaging (Moisture Detection)

Thermal imaging uses an infrared camera to show temperature differences across a surface, such as a wall or ceiling. Wet areas often show up as cooler than dry areas because evaporating water pulls heat from the surface, which lets a technician spot a hidden wet zone without opening the wall. A thermal image points to a possible problem area, and a technician then confirms it with a direct moisture meter reading, since the camera measures temperature, not moisture, directly.
