Structural Drying

Structural drying is the process of removing moisture from the building materials themselves, such as framing, subfloor, and drywall, not just the standing water on the surface. It uses air movers to speed evaporation from wet materials and dehumidifiers to pull the resulting moisture out of the air. EPA guidance recommends drying water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours to reduce the chance of mold growth, which is the same time pressure that drives structural drying in a restoration job.
