Class 1-4 Water Damage (Psychrometric Classes)

Beyond category, a water loss also gets a class rating that describes how much moisture is in the building and how hard it will be to dry. A lower class number means less moisture and materials that give up water easily. A higher class number means more water has soaked into dense materials, such as concrete or multiple layers of flooring, and drying will take longer and need more equipment. Restoration companies use this rating to plan how many air movers and dehumidifiers a job needs and how long the drying phase will run.
